About Survivor Sunday

Survivor Sunday is an invitation for individuals and Christian churches across the nation to join together in prayer for those who have been affected by gun violence in America. These other victims are the loved ones of those killed by senseless gunfire. They are the spouses, children, parents, siblings, friends, companions, neighbors, co-workers and entire communities who have been traumatized by the loss of someone taken away in this agonizing manner.

“We are hopeful that, through Survivor Sunday, thousands of men and women of faith will take action and step out of the boat, lifting up prayers and taking on the task of ushering in a nationwide moral movement for gun-violence prevention.”

Jesus commands us to love our neighbors, which includes strangers and anyone caught in the crossfire of violence, regardless of their faith, ethnicity, or which “neighborhood” they come from. (Luke 10:25-37)

“I am proud to join thousands of caring and compassionate people across America, in praying for those affected by gun violence and honoring the memory of their precious loved ones—To simply pray to God our Father, who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3).” -Rev. James Ward

About Us

As we mourn for our brothers and sisters who have died from gun violence, we pray fervently for their friends and family who grieve. We also accept and declare that it is time to couple our thoughts and prayers with action. We call on our fellow Christian believers, church leaders, and pastors across the country to declare that we will decisively respond to this problem with both prayer and action.
